Today, we’re celebrating one of the cutest, silliest, and most lovable breeds around… the PUG! Did you know? 🐾 💕 Pugs were bred to be companion dogs and have been making people smile for centuries! 💕 Their curly tails, wrinkly faces, and big personalities make them instantly recognizable. 💕 Pugs are known for being affectionate, playful, and expert-level snugglers! 💕 Because of their flat noses, pugs can have trouble regulating their body temperature, so mild weather is best for their adventure And who better to celebrate than our very own FIONA! 🐾 We all know Fiona. She’s our certified therapy dog who regularly visits our local nursing homes and Lostant School. Everyone loves when Fiona comes to school, and she LOVES sharing her favorite pug books with our kindergarten friends wt are meeting her for the very first time. There’s nothing better than watching a little reading time turn into a whole lot of smiles, snuggles, and tail wags! Fiona is certified through ATD (Alliance of Therapy Dogs) and even has her own trading cards featuring some of her favorite things; tomatoes. That is her absolute favorite snack! 🍅 Fiona also knows that school visits are best when the weather is just right. With that adorable flat pug nose, she needs a little extra care to stay comfortable and safe. 🐾 I think it is safe to say that, "Fiona Friday's" (coined by our very own QR) can resume this school year now that the cooler temperatures have returned! Dogs have such a special way of bringing comfort, happiness, and connection into our lives. It’s no wonder pugs make such wonderful companions, sharing unconditional love and support wherever they go. Happy National Pug Day from Fiona and all her friends at Lostant! School! 🧡💙

In celebration of Indigenous peoples day, Mrs. DuMais' fifth and sixth grade social studies class has created Pre-Colombian Native American recipes to share and enjoy. The menu includes cornbread, corn and bean salad, corn, silk tea, fruit compote, and many other, natural ingredient inspired dishes.

October 10th is World Mental Health Day. The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.
Stephanie and Kevin have been making a meaningful impact at our school through the WORTH program, engaging Lostant students in grades 6–8 in meaningful conversations and activities designed to address low self-worth—a core driver of mental health challenges in adolescents identified by the institute.
Together, our students are helping spread an important message of support throughout our entire school community:
You are loved. You matter. And you are never alone. 💙🧡

A huge THANK YOU to the Lostant Fire Department and Ambulance for visiting our students today and teaching them about fire safety! Our students had a great time learning important safety tips and getting an up-close look at the equipment, fire trucks, and ambulance. We also want to thank you for the goodie bags you gave our students—they were definitely a hit! We appreciate you taking the time to visit our school, share your knowledge, and help keep our students and community safe!

Halloween is right around the corner! See the attached for more information.

MORE Fall Fun!
Students have been busy creating seasonal masterpieces in Mrs. Bandlow’s Art class! While learning about different types of lines, our upper elementary students painted beautiful large fall leaves, while our lower elementary students created colorful “Larry the Line” snakes. Go Cobras! 🐍
It’s always exciting to see creativity and learning come together in the art room!

The heat couldn’t dampen our spirits tonight! While the game may have been canceled due to the extreme heat, we still found a way to celebrate these four amazing girls and all they have accomplished.
We are so proud of each of you and wish you the very best as you head into your final year of junior high! Make it a great one! 💚🐍
