Mrs. Haynes’ Science Lab Expectations
I am looking forward to a great year of growth and exploration in Science. However, the lab is a unique learning environment that requires to students to be safety conscious. The following 3-Strike behavior plan is in effect:

Be respectful to adults and students.

Use appropriate language.
-
Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
-
Raise your hand to answer or ask questions – do not shout out.
-
Do not interrupt – If I am speaking, you are not.
-
Be careful when walking around the lab to obtain supplies, etc.
-
Stay out of the storage room.
-
Keep all of your belongings either inside the storage cabinet at your table or under the table to prevent tripping.

Do not mess with science supplies other than those needed for the lab.
-
Bring all necessary materials to class.
-
Respect school property and supplies – do not remove supplies from the classroom without permission so that they are available for all to use.

Use your planner every day for every class.
-
Homework is due at the beginning of the next class period.

Do your best work.
-
Ask for help if you need it.
-
When working in groups, stay on task and do your part.
-
Leave desks and classroom as you found it.
-
Follow the Student Handbook for additional behavior expectations.

Any student who does not follow the expectations will be given a strike. Students begin each week strike-free. The consequences for strikes are as follows:
Strike 1:
Student will conference with the teacher.
Strike 2:
Student will conference with the teacher and teacher will send an email or call the parent to discuss the behavior.
Strike 3:
Student will receive a lunch study hall and will be unable to participate in the next lab. He or she will have written work in place of the interactive lab. Parents will be notified through email or phone call if the student reaches this level.
