At Lostant Grade School, we are excited about providing the best education possible.  Lostant Grade School has adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as our framework. This framework has been adopted by more than 40 states. This is a national movement to adopt common standards and assessments for English and mathematics.  Currently, standards for what students should know and be able to do vary among states, as does the difficulty of the assessments used to determine whether students are meeting these standards.  Common standards allow for collaboration among states on best practices and professional development.  The CCSS are important because they help insure your student is prepared for success in college and the workforce.  It will ensure that all students, no matter where they live, have internationally benchmarked standards and assessments that are clear and understandable and consistent.  Standards provide a clear roadmap for learning for teachers, parents and students.  They help parents and teachers know when students need extra assistance or when they need to be more challenged.

To ensure that Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are being met in K-8, we have reading and math textbooks that are aligned to the CCSS. I pull various resources from the internet and other books to make sure students have been exposed to each strand within the CCSS.
