2014 Unpack the Backpack
On Thursday, August 21st Lostant School held their annual Unpack the Backpack and Open House. At 6pm, students and their parents/guardians were greeted by Mrs. Malahy the school superintendent. She then introduced the members of the Lostant Board of Education, teachers and support staff of the school.
This year at Lostant School there are 71 students in K-8, 49 attending the 3 area high schools available to Lostant students, 2 students in special education schools and 1 student in the alternative high school for a total of 123 students in the school district.
Quillard Skinner, a board member and police officer, then went over the safety plans of the school. He told of the various safety procedures that have been implemented at the school and also described emergency drills that would be performed at the school.
Fluid grouping was discussed by Mrs. Boldt and Mrs. Newbold. Pat Long discussed the procedures for getting information to the bus drivers. The bus drivers cannot accept phone calls, but can receive texts on their school phones. If you need to let them know your child will not be riding the bus please text them at the numbers listed. The book fair was running during the evening and hot dogs were served in the cafeteria. Once the presentation was complete the students and their guests were able to have dinner and visit all the classrooms.
